Serving at McConnellsburg UMC
We are a loving group of people who don't want to just keep the gospel to ourselves but want to share it with the world. We are blessed to have opportunities by serving those in our community through various ministries.
Do you want to make a difference in the community? We need you! Every first Saturday of the month, this ministry provides free hygiene items, gently used clothes, and laundry supplies. The location for the first Saturday's is 216 N. 2nd Street, McConnellsburg, PA 17233

First Fridays is an Outreach Ministry that provides a hot meal to everyone on the first Friday of each month. This is the perfect opportunity for those who want to build stronger relationships with the larger McConnellsburg community, who want to share their love of cooking for others, who seek to see everyone well fed, and who desire to make a direct difference in someone’s life.
First Fridays is an excellent way to walk beside one another and live out your faith by loving others who might be feeling lonely, hungry, and hurting. This ministry shines God’s hope in the world around us. You will encounter people from all walks of life at First Fridays and we like it that way. There is a place at the table for EVERYONE.
There is no cost to you. It is free! We do accept donations. These donations are put right back into the community through our community outreach ministries.
While this outreach is a fundraiser for the church, the WHOLE COMMUNITY is on edge waiting for these apple dumplings to be available each year. We made around 750 in 2023. They were all sold out in a snap during Fall Folk Festival!
We also make soup for this day and those quarts of chicken corn soup go like hotcakes!
Want to make sure to get yours in 2024? Check back for when the dates will be because you can always call-in advance so we can hold your dumplings and/or soup aside.
2024 dates to come soon!
For a number of years the church has been putting together treats, with church information, to give out to children on Trick-or-Treat night. The fun way we have been doing this is bagging goodies together and then setting up trunks in the parking lot behind the church.
It's easy for kids and families to come through to get candy and goodies of course.
In 2023 we started a best trunk competition. Our winners for 2023 were Sid and Lisa McConahy. Who will it be in 2024?
This outreach is a massive undertaking. It takes many hands and prayers to get supplies, make the food and get it ready to send out.
Each November, on Thanksgiving Day, there is a free meal offered at McConnellsburg UMC starting at 11am. Come and bring your family here, no need to cook or clean up.
As you can see in the picture, we also do take-out and deliveries. Order enough to take home for each family member to share around your own table.
There were over 400 meals delivered, picked up or served that day.
Many hands make light work! Be on the lookout for this year's meal.
Donating your time is not the only way to serve at McConnellsburg UMC. There are recurring costs to operating and staffing our ministry, as well as helping us do work throughout our community and the world. We believe that God calls us to give, and to give generously. We give you a chance to worship in this way on our website.
As Jesus left this world, his parting words to his disciples were: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." There is always room at the Table for YOU at McConnellsburg UMC. We are working on a discipleship plan within our church and cannot wait to share it with you!
